A personal project to aggregate academic and research job postings directly from the job portals of Swiss, German and Italian universities and research institutions into a single, easily searchable interface.

A set of Scrapy spiders run daily against each university's job portal. They collect titles, descriptions, deadlines, departments, and other structured metadata.
Each scrape is persisted to a SQLite database. New postings are detected, existing ones are updated, and removed postings are flagged — giving you a full history.
A read-only REST API serves filtered, paginated job data. Facets are computed dynamically so filter counts stay accurate as you narrow your search.
A Next.js frontend with server-side rendering. Filters live in the URL — every search is shareable and bookmarkable.
All postings are sourced from publicly accessible job portals.

The "Administrative / Other" category is large — it collects non-research roles (technical, administrative, and support staff) plus any posting whose title does not clearly signal the role type. These reclassify as the classifier improves.
Descriptions are in the source language — English, German, French, or Italian depending on the institution. Use your browser's built-in translation for non-English listings.
Some ETH Zurich postings don't include a structured deadline. These display as 'No deadline'.
Duplicates are possible but rare — the same role can occasionally appear twice if an institution lists it under more than one department.
SciFind only collects listings from publicly accessible university and research-institution job portals. We crawl politely — obeying each site's robots.txt, rate-limiting, and identifying our crawler as SciFindBot — and we store only a short preview, linking back to the original posting rather than republishing it.
If you operate a source and would prefer we don't index it, or you're named in a posting and want it removed, email thescifind@gmail.com and we'll remove it promptly. You can also block SciFindBot in your robots.txt.

Not covered in Switzerland: HSG (St. Gallen), UniGE (Geneva), UniFR (Fribourg) — no central scrapable portal.
In Italy we crawl only universities that publish an openly accessible, server-rendered bandi listing (Bologna, Modena & Reggio Emilia, Camerino so far). Many large universities can't be included: most academic recruitment runs through the shared CINECA PICA platform, whose robots.txt disallows crawling, and several institutions (Padua, Turin, Milan, Florence, Bari) block automated access in robots.txt / behind a bot-challenge or render listings only via JavaScript. We never bypass those protections; coverage grows as more portals expose an openly crawlable listing.
