These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of scifind.ai and related services (the "Service"), operated by SciFind ("SciFind", "we", "us", "our"). Please read them together with our Privacy Notice.
By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation (for example as a recruiter), you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation, and "you" includes that organisation.
SciFind is a discovery tool. For job seekers, it operates as a search index over academic and research vacancies that institutions have already published themselves on their own public career portals: it does not host, sell, or republish those advertisements, but shows a short factual preview (such as the title, institution, location, and deadline) and links back to the original posting — the authoritative version, and where you apply. For recruiters / employers, SciFind additionally lets you post positions directly and review applicants. It also offers optional accounts with a profile, CV, saved jobs, alerts, and AI-assisted matching.
SciFind is not the source, publisher, or employer of the aggregated listings; is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, any university or institution; and does not act as an employment agency or recruiter. Institution names and marks are used only to identify the source of a listing; no partnership or endorsement is implied.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.
You agree not to:
You retain ownership of the content you submit — your profile, CV, applications, messages, and (for recruiters) your job postings ("User Content"). You grant SciFind a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display your User Content solely to operate and provide the Service. You are responsible for your User Content and confirm that you have the rights to submit it, that it is accurate and lawful, and that it does not infringe third-party rights or include other people's personal data without a lawful basis. We may remove content that breaches these Terms or the law.
For employer accounts, the following also applies:
Aggregated listings are indexed from third-party portals; recruiter postings come from employers. Aggregated content remains the property of its source — we claim no ownership of it — and we store only a short factual preview plus a link, rather than reproducing the full advertisement. We index only publicly accessible listings, respect each source's robots.txt, and do not bypass logins, paywalls, or other access controls. Listings may be outdated, incomplete, or changed at the source, and are provided "as is"; we are not responsible for third-party content, so always confirm details (deadlines, eligibility, status) on the official posting before applying.
Rights holders: if you represent an institution and would like a listing corrected or removed — for any reason — use our removal request form or email thescifind@gmail.com. We honour such requests promptly, and you can block automated access at any time via your robots.txt, which we respect.
AI-generated matches, scores, search results, and drafted text (e.g. cover letters) are suggestions and assistance only. They may be incomplete or inaccurate, are not professional, legal, career, or hiring advice, and are never a guarantee of any outcome, interview, or job. You are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on it. How we handle data in AI features — including that we do not train AI on your data — is described in our Privacy Notice and AI FAQ.
The SciFind name, logos, design, software, and the selection and arrangement of content are owned by us (or our licensors) and protected by the Swiss Copyright Act (URG) and other applicable laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, reproduce, store, republish, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service or its content without our prior written consent. Job postings remain the property of their sources; third-party names and marks belong to their owners.
The Service may contain links to third-party websites and services (including the original job postings and our payment, email, and hosting providers). We do not control and are not responsible for their content or practices. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that listings or AI output are accurate or complete. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SciFind is liable only for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for loss of data, profits, opportunities, or goodwill, nor for third-party content, external links, AI suggestions, or decisions made by you or by recruiters. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory law (such as for personal injury, or under mandatory consumer-protection rules).
You agree to indemnify and hold SciFind harmless from claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising out of your User Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of applicable law, to the extent permitted by law.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. We may suspend or terminate access — with notice where reasonable — for breach of these Terms, misuse, or where required by law. On termination your right to use the Service ends; we may retain anonymised or aggregated data and any records we are legally required to keep.
If you believe content on the Service is illegal or infringes your rights, please notify us at thescifind@gmail.com with enough detail to identify it. We will review reports and take appropriate action, and will act on valid legal requests from competent authorities.
We may change the Service and these Terms. We will revise the date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the substantive laws of Switzerland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is SciFind's registered seat in Switzerland, subject to any mandatory place of jurisdiction — including consumer-protection rules that may entitle EU/EEA consumers to bring claims in their country of residence.
If any provision is found invalid, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver. These Terms and the Privacy Notice are the entire agreement between us regarding the Service. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor. The English version of these Terms governs.
