The lab of Madalena Reimão Pinto investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation of mRNA translation during zebrafish embryogenesis. This research combines the power of the zebrafish embryo with RNA biochemistry, massively parallel reporter assays, next-generation sequencing, computational and imaging approaches to tackle these questions. Key aims are to uncover how mRNA 5′ UTR sequence motifs control translational dynamics, to identify the relevant RNA-binding proteins, and to understand their roles in embryogenesis.
