Refine with filtersItalian academic hiring runs through national frameworks — the ASN (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) habilitation for professorships and competitive bandi for research positions. Major research universities include Bologna, Padua, Milan's Politecnico and Sapienza Rome. Salaries are lower than Northern Europe but so is the cost of living outside Milan. The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) offers internationally competitive packages.
